Mechanical Design Engineer II

The Mechanical Design Engineer II is responsible for designing and developing a wide range of stainlesssteel products, while providing technical support to all departments and customers.

Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to the following:

  • Design structural stainless-steel vessels and support products.
  • Create prototype designs, build, and test as needed.
  • Prepare, lead, and present at interactive design reviews.
  • Develop accurate 3D models.
  • Produce BOMs, quotes, drawings, work instructions, specification sheets, and reports.
  • Identify critical dimensions for incoming inspection.
  • Execute Design for Manufacturability (DFM) during the design phase.
  • Understand the cost impact of new designs.
  • Participate in cost reduction events.
  • Create engineering changes as required and help provide suitable disposition.
  • Engage in brainstorming ideas for new products.
  • Help streamline product development and fabrication processes.
  • Design fixtures or fabrication support products.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and problem-solve effectively.
  • Assist the supply chain in identifying components, specifications, and lead times.
  • Work with suppliers to determine capability, efficiency, capacity, cost, and availability to supply products.
  • Support the Sales team by providing models, drawings, and documents upon request.
  • Build a strong relationship with the fabrication team, interface regularly, and resolve product issues quickly.
  • Foster positive relationships with all departments.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service at all times, both internally and externally.
  • Some travel is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Proficiency in solid modeling, preferably with SolidWorks.

  • FEA experience
  • Solid modeling, SolidWorks preferred
